June 28, 2022

This is the fourth German-language edition in the series

Arlington, VA (June 28, 2022) – Conservation International today released “Nature is Speaking | Marie Nasemann ist Erde,” a new, German-language edition in the award-winning “Die Natur Spricht” series – known in English as “Nature is Speaking.” “Erde” is voiced by Munich-born actress, author and model Marie Nasemann, in her Die Natur Spricht debut.

Nasemann is known for her leading roles in several German films, her third-place finish on Germany’s Next Top Model and for her bestselling book on fair fashion and sustainability, “Fairknallt: Mein grüner Kompromiss.” In Erde, Nasemann lends her voice to the script first heard in “Home,” an English-language Nature is Speaking film released in 2015 and voiced by American actress Reese Witherspoon. This German version is the seventh adaptation to date – the film is has also been recorded in Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Filipino and Arabic.

“This film is such a wonderful representation of the Earth’s role in our lives – giving humanity the foundations we need to exist every day,” Nasemann said of the project. “Mother Earth provides a stable, giving home for nearly eight billion of us. As a mother myself, I’m honored to lend my voice to the one she provides us. I hope that upon watching this film we can all recognize that, without nature, we would not have a home of any kind.”

This is the fourth German-language edition of a film in the Nature is Speaking series. Die Natur Spricht has previously premiered films from the perspective of mother nature (“Hannelore Elsner ist Mutter Natur”), the ocean (“Hannes Jaenicke ist Der Ozean”) and the soil (“Oliver Mommsen ist Der Boden”).

Conservation International developed the “Nature Is Speaking” campaign in 2014 with social impact communications agency MAL\FOR GOOD. The goal: to give nature a voice and reframe why conservation is important, reinforcing that people need nature if we are to safeguard our future on the planet.

The series includes films *in 10 languages* personifying different elements of nature narrated by some of the biggest names in Hollywood as well as more than 560 international artists. The films have been viewed more than 100 million times around the world.
