Colleen Sorto works on developing and implementing Conservation International’s global freshwater strategy, with a focus on promoting integrated landscape planning and field-based partnerships with development organizations.

Colleen Sorto has spent the past five years developing and implementing Conservation International’s global freshwater strategy, with a focus on promoting integrated landscape planning and field-based partnerships with development organizations.

In her current role, she focuses on the policies and enabling frameworks for advancing the protection and sound management of freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity through Conservation International’s leadership on the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, support for ratification of the UN Water Courses Convention, and promotion of the goals of the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation.

She also works closely with Conservation International’s Social Policy and Partnerships department and international development organizations to promote initiatives to better link freshwater conservation and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in the Americas, Africa and Asia.
