CEMEX
Over the past two decades, CEMEX has joined Conservation International and other NGO partners to publish a series of books, as part of the “CEMEX Conservation Book Series,” with a goal to communicate information about biodiversity conservation and the importance of our natural resources to a large audience. Earlier editions of the series included Hotspots, Megadiversity, Wilderness, Wildlife Spectacles, Hotspots Revisited, Transboundary Conservation and A Climate for Life.
2012: Co-authored by several Conservation International staff (including Russ Mittermeier, Peter Seligmann and Greg Stone) and published by CEMEX/iLCP, Oceans: Heart of Our Blue Planet was the recipient of the 2012 gold medal at the Independent Publisher Book Awards in the Environment/Ecology/Nature category.
2010: CEMEX provided Conservation International and Conservation International partner iLCP (the International League of Conservation Photographers) with philanthropic support to develop Fresh Water: The Essence of Life, released December 6 at the UNFCCC COP16 in Cancun. The book focuses on the global freshwater crisis and offers practical solutions for addressing the crisis. Conservation International's Russ Mittermeier, Tracy Farrell, Ian Harrison, Amy Upgren and Tom Brooks are lead authors on the book and a traveling photo exhibition showcased the amazing photographs toured throughout the United States.
