Burberry: Freedom to Go Beyond

A partnership with Burberry and Minecraft that helps gamers protect virtual worlds — and real-world forests

Burberry and Minecraft are teaming up to help Conservation International protect and restore forests in places with the most urgent needs and the greatest potential for positive impact. ‘Burberry: Freedom To Go Beyond’ is an in-game Minecraft adventure where game players are encouraged to complete various outdoor challenges and interact with the animal kingdom. By restoring balance to the game’s four realms (fire, water, air, and earth), players can return the spirit of the wild to London and free Burberry’s Equestrian Knight. As part of the game’s launch, Burberry and Minecraft will make a donation to help protect 500,000 trees and plant 25,000 trees through environmental organization Conservation International and their forest conservation efforts around the world. Support from this initiative will not only help protect and restore forest ecosystems but also help conserve critical wildlife habitats in places where Conservation International works.

Additionally, gamers can help restore balance to the planet’s critical forests in real life by supporting Conservation International’s projects around the world. For each dollar donated, you can help protect 10 trees in places such as Colombia, Peru, Madagascar, and Kenya. For just $25, gamers can help Conservation International protect an acre of forest and critical wildlife habitat in places where we work. Every acre of healthy forest ensures a home for wildlife and well-being for indigenous peoples who rely on forests for their livelihoods.

Peru, Alto Mayo Rainforest

Despite its name, the Alto Mayo Protected Forest once had some of Peru’s highest deforestation rates. With the help of partners, Conservation International is engaging communities in protecting and restoring these vital forests.

Madagascar, Ankeniheny-Zahamena

In Madagascar, a country with one of the highest deforestation rates globally, we work with the government and local communities to protect the few remaining intact forests. Through enhanced community and drone patrols, support for sustainable agriculture and restoration of degraded areas, we help protect the Ankeniheny-Zahamena and Ambositra Vondrozo forest corridors which harbor rich biodiversity and deliver many benefits to people.

Kenya’s Chyulu Hills are home to Indigenous peoples, farmers and legions of iconic wildlife. Conservation International is helping to implement a program that compensates communities for keeping the forests standing.

On Colombia’s Caribbean coast, Conservation International is leading a project to conserve and restore mangrove forests — some of the most important, yet unsung, ecosystems in the world.
