Meet the man who is saving coconut crabs. Florens Dimara rescues coconut crabs being sold in the illegal coconut crab trade and brings them back to his island to rebound the population. Coconuts crabs are indigenous to islands in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Currently, there are no regulations for a protected breeding season or harvesting size for the species. Coconut crabs are easily over-harvested, as commercial demand for tourism and local consumption are impacting their survival.
