Our Priorities

Where is the nature that people need – and how can we best protect it?our plan
We advise local, national, and global decision-makers, providing the data, science, and field expertise required to protect and restore ecosystems at historic scale. Our network of partners includes dozens of national governments and international aid agencies, as well as the world’s largest multi-lateral institutions.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, housed within Conservation International, is a joint initiative between l’Agence Francaise de Developpement, the European Union, Fondation Hans Wilsdorf, the Global Environment Facility, the World Bank, and the government of Japan; it has delivered more than US$300 million in grants, conserving 17 million hectares of critical ecosystems. We also rank among the largest NGO recipients of funding from the Global Environment Facility and Green Climate Fund.

Global Environment Facility
Since 2013, Conservation International has been an accredited GEF Project Agency. We work with governments around the world to identify, design, and execute high-impact projects. In 2023, we were tapped by the GEF to lead the Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program, a six-year, US$200 million effort spanning twenty countries.

Green Climate Fund
In 2015, Conservation International became the first international NGO to received GCF accreditation. We help partners around the world to design effective climate change projects, focused on both mitigation and adaptation. We also oversee project management and implementation, ensuring that projects meet high technical, social and financial standards.
