Sharks support the oceanic food web that supports us, the carbon cycle that stabilizes our climate, even our economies. Thanks to the support of donors, Conservation International has been working to bring them back. In the Bird's Head, CI and our partners helped establish Indonesia's first shark sanctuary and have helped build local patrol teams that enforce it. The reef sharks are not only returning to the area, but are thriving. Marine conservationist Laure Katz talks about CI’s progress in this region. Nature Is Speaking
Nature doesn’t need people. People need nature.
That’s the message of our provocative, celebrity-studded campaign “Nature Is Speaking.” Our aim is to raise awareness that people need nature in order to survive. Our goal is simple: It’s time to change the conversation about nature to focus on what we all have in common: Our shared humanity.
