Janet Edmond
Janet Edmond is the Senior Director for Justice and Equity in Conservation International's Global Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Center.
She has more than 28 years of experience leading and managing programs on conflict, peace and conservation — as well as managing health, development and environment programs. She also has more than 15 years of experience technically and financially managing USAID health and environment grants, and cooperative agreements.
Edmond is a recognized technical expert and leader in international health, development and biodiversity conservation, with a strong focus on promoting rights-based approaches, gender integration and women’s empowerment. Edmond leads the global Conservation Initiative on Human Rights, dedicated to conservation organizations’ implementation of a rights-based approach to conservation.
In addition, Edmond has extensive experience providing technical assistance and guidance on the social components of conservation, including incorporating gender and a rights-based approach. Edmond co-facilitates Conservation International's trainings for staff and partners on gender analysis, indicator selection and participatory monitoring and evaluation.
