Janet Edmond

Senior Director, People & Culture

Janet Edmond is the Senior Director for Conservation Workforce Futures in Conservation International's People & Culture Department.

She has more than 30 years of experience leading and managing programs on human rights, gender, conflict, peace and conservation — as well as managing health, development and environment programs.

Janet is a recognized technical expert and leader in international health, development and biodiversity conservation, with a focus on promoting rights-based approaches, gender integration and women’s empowerment. She leads the global Conservation Initiative on Human Rights, dedicated to conservation organizations’ implementation of a rights-based approach to conservation.

In addition, she has extensive experience advancing innovative, multisectoral conservation education programs, providing technical assistance and guidance on the social components of conservation, including incorporating gender and a rights-based approach. Edmond co-facilitates Conservation International's trainings for staff and partners on human rights and conservation, gender analysis, indicator selection and participatory monitoring and evaluation.
