Lui Walton Fellow

As a Lui Walton Fellow at Conservation International, Felix Gaschick is the first managing director of the Frankfurt Conservation Center, a new platform that brings together leading institutions from science, conservation, policy, finance and society.

He leads the center's development and international positioning, building partnerships and collaborative initiatives that connect scientific knowledge with practical conservation action to prevent biodiversity loss.

Felix has more than 20 years of international experience in biodiversity conservation, climate change and sustainable development. Before joining the center, he held senior leadership positions and led large conservation and development programs across Asia, most recently a major biodiversity program in Bangladesh. His work has focused on conservation program leadership, institutional development and environmental governance, with particular attention to what he calls "deprojectizing conservation": building lasting institutions and partnerships that sustain conservation beyond individual projects and funding cycles.

Felix has a doctorate in development management and a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in forestry from Germany.
