Conservation International Scholarship

The Conservation International Scholarship, offered in partnership with the National University of Singapore, is a 1-year grant awarded to qualified students from Asia enrolled in the Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation and Nature-based Climate Solutions Program at the Department of Biological Science. It supports aspiring young conservationists to pursue a world-class education in Singapore and build capacity in geographies with a high potential for nature-positive development and conservation.

Through this scholarship, recipients will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills to address environmental challenges in the region, and pursue impactful careers dedicated to nature conservation. Since 2022, we have had the privilege of supporting the following Conservation International Scholarship recipients:

“In spite of people trying to address global environmental challenges and conservation goals in the last past years, we are still far behind in achieving global environmental targets and reversing the trends. At the same time, local communities are being exposed to compounding risks – from biodiversity loss to food insecurity, and resource degradation to loss of well-being. Working in a conservation organization made me realize that the restoration of biodiversity is not simply a matter of protecting nature, but also a safeguard for the well-being of humanity. I hope this academic opportunity will enhance my knowledge to address conservation solutions that benefit communities and societies in the long-term.”

“My current interests revolve around land change modelling, particularly focusing on deforestation and degradation. I'm also interested about understanding the functional connectivity of landscapes and suitability modelling. Outside the technical side of conservation, I love exploring the role of visual arts and storytelling in conservation and environmental awareness. I've been actively involved in volunteering with environmental NGOs in the Philippines. I was also a Contributing Artist for the ‘Punla’ Native Plant Exhibit in 2020 by the Philippine Native Plants Conservation Society, Inc and Philippine Botanical Art Society. Currently, I'm immersed in a dynamic internship with ClearWind, contributing to the technical development of a forestry carbon project in Caraga, Mindanao.”

“Wildlife and environmental preservation have always piqued my interest. Since I was a young child, I have been interested about protecting animals, and I am eager to learn new abilities and knowledge to save biodiversity. Tigers and any related conservation activities are my particular area of interest. I want to work towards the conservation of tigers. I've moved one step closer to becoming a conservationist thanks to the scholarship. As a Conservation International scholar, I got more resources through which I was able explore the tropical rainforest and learn about the marine life which was totally new for me. Moreover, through the scholarship I got to know some passionate conservation experts from different parts of the world which made me more confident in pursuing my career in biodiversity conservation.”
