Caura River Expedition Day 8

December 2, 2000

These small toads are common throughout the
tropical rainforest.
Toad

This common small tree frog is one of the many species of the genus bufo, or common toad (sapo in Spanish). As amphibians, frogs have very thin skin and live both out of and in the water.

Lately, amphibians, especially frogs, have been used as indicators to show rising levels of contamination including acid rain, and lowering ozone levels.

It is best known for typical paratoides glands that are poison which they either secrete or squirt out if you press it.
