Eichhornia
This is an aquatic plant typical of lagoons and still waters. It serves as food for fish and some birds which eat its leaves. This plant has a bad reputation because it invades bodies of water which receive fertilization from industrial waste and sewage.
This brings consequences such as killing off aquatic animals, depleting the water of oxygen, and impeding the ability of solar light to enter the water. Nonetheless the plant has a very beautiful flower, and actually cleanses the contaminated waters it habitates.
