Bromeilia (pictured below)
Tillandsia sp. is one of the most abundant genras in the in the Family Bromeliaceae, or epiphytes – plants that live in the trees without causing them harm.
Their leaves are arranged to function like a reservoir that conserves water and collects detritus which, upon decomposing, gives nutrients to the plant.
This reservoir also serves as a habitat for mosquitoes, frogs, small salamanders, and other insects. Some mammals even drink this water, as well.
