Inspired by a Disney movie, a pint-sized nature-lover recently turned her birthday into a little “monkey business” to benefit Conservation International.
Addison, a nine-year-old from Illinois, learned that seeing DisneyNature’s
Monkey Kingdom film during its premiere week would raise funds for CI and quickly hatched a plan, as explained in her letter below:
Addison began the habit of giving back at an early age. She’s “a tireless worker, a competitive swimmer and a great sister to her 12-year old brother,” according to her father. She was encouraged in her project by her third-grade teacher, who leads the Environmental Club at her school.
Her dad says that Addison’s especially fond of CI’s slogan,
Nature doesn’t need people. People need nature: “She gets it!”
Said the young philanthropist: “I had the best birthday ever and it’s good to be abel to help make a difrens!”
Donate to CI to protect all the parts of nature we can’t live without. We’ll put your gift right to work in the places it’s needed most.
