5 Things You Can Do This Earth Day
This Earth Day, there’s a role for everyone. Small actions do matter and add up to make a world of difference for the planet we all share. Here are some simple but meaningful ideas to get you started:
See Disneynature’s film “Monkey Kingdom” opening week (April 17-23). A portion of your ticket will support CI programs that protect monkeys and other endangered species, restore forests and support local communities.
Drink sustainable coffee. Working with Starbucks, Conservation International has created a new way to produce coffee: one that is sustainable, transparent and good for people and the planet. Now, Starbucks has verified 99% of their coffee is ethically sourced — which means you can feel good about that next latte. And don’t forget your reusable mug.
Bring your own reusable grocery bags. Each year the world uses around 500 billion plastic bags, many of which end up in our rivers and oceans. Committing to using your own bag (whether cotton, canvas or synthetic) on each trip to the grocery store is one of the simplest steps you can take to make a difference for the planet.
Offset the impact of your next flight on United Airlines and help save forests. When you purchase a carbon offset from United, you can support CI's work to save Peru's
Alto Mayo Protected Forest. The program has generated almost three million metric tons of emissions reductions — the equivalent of taking more than 500,000 cars off the road for a year. Check out United's online calculator to find out how much it will cost to offset your next trip.
Donate to protect the planet we can’t live without. Thanks to people like you, CI’s programs protect ecosystems around the world. And that, in turn, means a better life for all of us. So when you donate to CI, you’re not just helping the Earth. You’re helping people, too.
