Adapting to a Changing Climate

Training of Trainers Course and Toolkit

The Adapting to a Changing Climate Training of Trainers (ToT) course and toolkit was designed to give local communities the tools and information they need to fully and effectively participate in ongoing adaptation planning and action at the local, regional, and national levels.

The course and toolkit are intended to be a global tool, which trainers can adapt for the local context of their country or region. The materials provide a global context for climate change and key issues related to adaptation, while giving trainers the flexibility to incorporate their own knowledge and experience to customize the information for a local audience.

The Training of Trainers is comprised of three different parts:

The manuals are part of a toolkit which also contains posters, vocabulary cards, and PowerPoint presentations.

The manual and other materials were first tested by Conservation International staff from 12 country programs and four headquarters divisions at a staff feedback workshop in June 2012, Their inputs were included in a revision of the materials, which were then piloted in collaboration with CI-Fiji in February 2013, with participants including community representatives, provincial environmental officers, and NGO partners. The participants' feedback was incorporated into the final products.
