– Conservation International (CI) is proud to be a participant in today’s inaugural #GivingTuesday
event, a national day of action for charity in the United States. A founding partner for this movement, which challenges people in the U.S. to “Get out the Give”, CI joins an energized and pioneering network of more than 1,000 supporters and partners in all 50 states that has come together to activate their respective networks and invite them to give on November 27th.
"Every day, every year, in countless ways that people often take for granted, nature gives us life-sustaining gifts that enable our health, wealth, happiness and security," said Kim McCabe, Vice President of News and Public Relations for Conservation International. “To enable our planet's ability to continue providing so generously for all seven billion of us on Earth, it is absolutely essential that each of us takes time to recognize these gifts and give generously in return."
"That's why Conservation International is especially pleased to be a part of this exciting #GivingTuesday
event, which offers consumers a rewarding opportunity to give the gift of financial support for their favorite charity's work," McCabe added. "We applaud the innovative thinking of our founding partners and hope 2012 marks the beginning of long-lasting tradition of awareness, gratitude and philanthropy during the busy holiday season."

#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign, catalyzed and led by New York’s 92nd Street Y, to create a national day of giving at the launch of the annual holiday season. Along with key partners like the United Nations Foundation, #GivingTuesday has brought together partners which include diverse non-profits, iconic brands and socially-minded companies to help spread the message of philanthropy and service for causes that matter most.
Thanks to the enthusiastic support of #GivingTuesday “Social Media Ambassadors” who engaged media and reached out to their social networks urging people to “get out the give", the first-time collaboration has been able to reach a total of 1,000 partners and promises to deliver significant philanthropic impact to help the causes involved.

Notes for Editors:
About #GivingTuesday - #GivingTuesday is a movement to celebrate giving and provide incentives to give. It will begin with a national day of giving on November 27, 2012. This first-of-its-kind effort harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.#GivingTuesday is inspiring people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate and to help create a better world. #GivingTuesday is harnessing the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays that is dedicated to giving, similar to the way Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping.
