He has a Forest Engineering degree from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Lima, Peru, a M.Sc. degree in Tropical Silviculture from Georg-August University in Goettingen, Germany, and a Ph.D. in Forest Science with emphasis in remote sensing and geographic information systems from Colorado State University. He has worked as a Natural Protected Area Specialist for the Division of Natural Protected Areas of the Peruvian Institute of Natural Resources, in the implementation of flood monitoring and forecasting systems, agriculture development and drought mitigation related projects in Bangladesh, Iraq, Morocco and the Western United States. Since 2009, Claudio has been in charge of the technical supervision of all the programs being implemented by CI in Peru, including, the consolidation of the bi-national Vilcabamba-Amboró Conservation Corridor, the implementation of a forest management project for indigenous communities in the Peruvian Central Amazon, the development of several REDD+ projects, and the provision of technical assistance on REDD+ readiness to the Peruvian Ministry of Environment. |
