Patricia Baiao is the Director of Institutional Relations for CI’s Brazil program. In this role, she works with the policy team to amplify best practices into public and corporate policies using CI’s successful experiences in the field. She is responsible for liaising with national and local governments in Brazil, other NGOs, and networks and she represents CI in the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Patricia worked on the implementation of the Amapa Biodiversity Corridor in Brazil, which covers more than 70 percent of the state of Amapa. She also aided in the creation of the Observatory of the Brazilian Forestry Code and the Kayapo Endowment Fund. She has published several scientific papers and has received various scholarships and awards during her career.
Prior to joining CI in 2009, Patricia worked as a technical assistant at The Nature Conservancy in Missouri. She has earned her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in Evolution and Ecology. In her free time, Patricia enjoys being outdoors and going bird watching.
