Brazil Pilot Project

In Brazil, the vulnerability assessment process is also serving to engage with various stakeholders in the SBA system towards identifying both marine and terrestrial pilot projects for testing the ecosystem-based adaptation recommendations under discussion.

On the marine side, this will likely refer to expanding the marine protected areas network, improving its management, governance and resilience to climate change effects.

On the terrestrial side, the emphasis will likely be on developing a municipal planning mechanism that includes forest protection and restoration, linked with strengthening an ongoing forest restoration carbon project, and the local mosaic of protected areas.
