Our project entitled "Ecosystem-based Adaptation in marine, terrestrial and coastal regions as a means of improving livelihoods and conserving biodiversity in the face of climate change" is aiming to increase the resilience and adaptive capacity of vulnerable people to climate change, through:
- Assessing the potential for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) solutions in the Philippines, South Africa and Brazil
- Implementing pilot EbA solutions
- Providing capacity building, and linking lessons learned to local, national and international climate adaptation planning and policy
This project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) under the framework of the International Climate Initiative (ICI), has five outputs:
These assessments determine EbA actions to be implemented.
Projects test the feasibility of implementing EbA actions.
Tracking the implementation and results of pilot projects.
Results of pilot projects inform national policy, which amplifies their impact.
Through engagement with international policy fora, lessons from the project can inform the global dialogue.
