Recognizing the critical importance of the Yangtze River as a source of fresh water for more than 400 million people, PepsiCo China made water conservation the theme of its “Pepsi Voice of the Next Generation” band competition during the summer of 2009. PepsiCo China joined with CI to educate millions of Chinese youth about the importance of environmental stewardship by airing public service announcements about water conservation during primetime coverage of the band competition on Zhejiang Satellite TV.
PepsiCo also was a member of CI’s Asia-Pacific Business & Sustainability Council, a community of business leaders committed to implementing and promoting social, economic and environmental sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region.
