2011: The JPMorgan Chase Foundation has provided the second of two $1 million grants to support the development of high-quality REDD projects — in countries such as Mexico, Peru and Kenya — which are enabling local communities and NGOs to design and implement projects that conserve tropical forests and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The grant has the potential to "unlock" the wealth of public and multilateral financing that has been committed and to scale up support for forest conservation and carbon market development.
