CI joined the CLP in 2002 and is implementing the program alongside BirdLife International, Fauna & Flora International and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
BP and the BP Foundation have been the primary funders of the CLP since 1990. The program, which was originally established as a mechanism to sponsor UK university students to collect biodiversity data, has grown into a global capacity building program that is dedicated to the development of emerging conservation leaders by providing a range of awards, training and mentoring support via an active international network of practitioners.
The partners in the CLP share a common concern for and commitment to our natural environment and its constituent biodiversity. By working together, sharing expertise and pooling resources, the partners are able to deliver the programme objectives far more effectively than through independent efforts.
