CI is working with Amaila Falls Hydro Inc. (AFHI) in Guyana to advise on biodiversity mitigation and offset design and implementation strategies for a 165 megawatt Amaila hydroelectric project.
AFHI – an entity jointly formed by Sithe Global Power, LLC and the government of Guyana – represents the first large-scale investment in hydropower in Guyana. It is also the foremost investment under the country’s low carbon development strategy, and the largest-ever investment in the country by a corporation.
CI’s work with AFHI to date has focused around providing feedback on the project’s environmental and social impact assessment, and producing a preliminary assessment to inform the project’s biodiversity offset scoping.
