CI and Alcoa signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2007, allowing Alcoa and CI to explore new ways of integrating biodiversity conservation with Alcoa’s environmental policies and management systems as well as share biodiversity information and scientific expertise to assess biodiversity resources.
The partnership also worked to identify opportunities to make strategic investments in regional conservation efforts that achieve conservation outcomes, and looked for opportunities to promote biodiversity conservation within the mining sector at the international and national scales.
