 Okavango Delta Expedition

June 13-17, 2000: Northwestern Moremi

Elephant families frequently move
through the Moremi base camp.

Base Camp 3

Characterized by semipermanent channels, lagoons, reed beds, and woodlands, this area’s diversity of habitats attracts most of the Delta’s 550 bird species.

In addition, the 1,100-square-mile reserve supports numerous large animals, such as wildebeests, giraffes, and elephants, as well as lions and cheetahs.

Dry woodlands are found in many parts of the Moremi Game Reserve base camp. The Delta's largest predator, the lion, often patrols the Moremi base camp.
