Oceans: Heart of our Blue Planet

On Sunday July 14th 2013, in an elegant outdoor setting, Conservation International Suriname presented the book “Oceans: Heart of our Blue Planet”, the 19th volume in the Cemex Conservation Book Series. In the richly illustrated book, the importance of a healthy ocean for human survival is emphasized. On the other hand, the oceans are in peril and the book illustrates several innovative solutions, designed by esteemed marine scientists.

Before the presenting of the book, the new Executive Director of Conservation International, John Goedschalk, was introduced to the local audience. The arrival of the new director means the beginning of a new phase for Conservation International Suriname, in which the strategies shall be intensified and activities will be planned accordingly.

After the introduction of John Goedschalk as the new Executive Director and the presentation of the book by the President of Conservation International, Dr. Russell Mittermeier, guests had an informal get together and the press had the opportunity to interview the new director.
