Grants

Our grants are designed to enable the feasibility analysis, design, implementation and monitoring of conservation agreements to support communities in the sustainable management of their natural resources. For each of these agreements, rigorous monitoring verifies both conservation and socioeconomic results and financial mechanisms are explored to sustain long-term provision of compensation.

TYPES OF GRANTS

CSP grants fall into two categories:

• Feasibility analysis grants. These grants are short term, from three to nine months. Funding is provided to assess the feasibility of implementing conservation agreements as a tool for conserving the proposed area. Key elements included in the feasibility analysis are possible conservation actions, benefits, the cost of implementing a potential agreement and the legal context. The feasibility analysis follows the process and requirements specified in the Conservation Agreement Model.
  
  
• Grant for implementing conservation agreements.  These grants are longer term grants of up to three years. Funding is provided to implement conservation agreements previously assessed in the feasibility analyses and proven to be viable. The implementation process of the conservation agreement should follow the steps and requirements specified in the Conservation Agreement Model.

CURRENT FOCUS

We are not accepting proposals for new projects at this time. We are focusing on consolidating our existing portfolio and creating the long-term financing strategies for those areas. When future funding is available, calls for proposals will be made through this Web site.

CSP is currently interested in expanding its donor base to secure sustainability of the current and future portfolios through investments from the private sector, multilateral organizations and local governments.
