Last month, CELB convened the 14th meeting of CI’s Business & Sustainability Council meeting. The meeting, entitled “Sustainable Agriculture Systems: Responsibly Feeding, Clothing, Supplying, and Fueling a Growing Population on a Finite Planet” was hosted by member company, Monsanto, and more than 45 representatives from key corporate partner companies were in attendance.
Outside experts such as Dr. Jon Foley, from the University of Minnesota, Sarah Alexander from the Keystone Alliance, and Hal Hamilton from the Sustainable Food Lab, also joined the meeting. CI’s new head of food security, John Buchanan, presented details on CI’s food security strategy and opportunities for corporate involvement with CI projects around the world. Fabio Scarano also presented an update on the CI-Monsanto partnership in Brazil.
The Council, made up of 27 corporate members, is a member-centric forum for corporate leaders committed to taking positive environmental actions in their businesses.
