Paula Diaz has joined the Responsible Mining & Energy team as a Program Specialist. Paula brings to CI a diverse background from her work in the private, public and international non-profit sectors. Her professional career started with the private sector in Colombia, monitoring and evaluating implementation of environmental and conservation policies related to petroleum projects. Complementing her technical background, she gained regulatory insight into freshwater conservation and wastewater management policies at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Most recently she was a project and client manager for a consulting firm with expertise advising international non-profit organizations on communication and advocacy strategies.
Paula has a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences and Policy from the Johns Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree from Universidad de La Salle in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering. Her master’s thesis focused on Internationally Shared Aquifer Systems, which she presented at a UNESCO International Hydrological Programme conference in Paris.
Paula is a native Spanish speaker and has basic proficiency in French. She loves reading, bicycling, yoga and traveling.
