As senior manager of the Sustainable Food & Agriculture Markets team, Bambi works across CELB's industry programs to develop business practice tools designed to assess environmental impacts and develop strategies for mitigating and offsetting these impacts. These tools include landscape planning methodologies, purchasing guidelines, and biodiversity monitoring systems that facilitate private sector implementation of biodiversity conservation initiatives.
Bambi previously worked as a manager in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries program within CELB, where she worked to develop procurement guidelines for companies such as McDonald’s, Office Depot and Starbucks. Bambi also formerly lead CELB’s work on aquaculture and advises industry on best practices for the production and sourcing of farmed seafood products such as shrimp.
Before coming to CELB, Bambi spent two years volunteering with the Peace Corps in Togo, where she worked as an environmental extension agent working with farmers to reforest areas and adopt improved agricultural practices. She also worked at Conservation International as a contractor for the Conservation Enterprise Department, researching and identifying best practices for cocoa production in West Africa and writing the project's handbook.
Bambi volunteers at Casey Trees as a Citizen Forester, planting and maintaining street trees in the District of Columbia, conducting citizen outreach, and teaching others how to plant and care for trees. She speaks French, Spanish, Finnish and the African language Tchokossi.
