CI Europe 

The Finance and Operations Coordinator, CI Europe will be responsible for the daily operations of the office in Brussels, Belgium.  This includes a variety of responsibilities, including operational tasks, financial management, and logistical support for the Director, European Policy.    Coordination with externally contracted payroll, human resources and staffing services is required, along with staff at CI Headquarters in Arlington, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Management:  Act as the financial manager for the office.  Manage day-to-day financial transactions and reporting of the office.  Monitor and maintain budgets via CI financial systems.  Responsible for managing the CI Europe bank account.  Liaise with Center for Conservation and Government’s Operations and Finance Manager based in Arlington, VA.
  • Logistics:  Organization and logistics support for events and meetings with the EU policy bodies (eg for visiting CI delegations), CI-Europe Board meetings and other similar events.
  • Operational:  Provide support to the staff in all operational tasks, such as completing expense reports, processing timesheets, and maintaining files of important documents.  Other operational responsibilities include managing contracts and relationships with externally contracted payroll, human resources and legal services that will support the Brussels office, as well as the lease arrangement for CI’s office space in Brussels.  When needed, provide editing assistance for correspondence/reports.

QUALFICAITIONS:

Required Skills:

  • College degree and two years of work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Proven financial management skills.
  • Familiarity with the requirements for successfully managing a non-profit organization under Belgian law.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Effective communication skills, particularly over the phone and email with colleagues located elsewhere in the world.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and French.

Preferred Skills:

  • Interest in biodiversity conservation a plus.
