Early in the year, after an intense retreat, several of our top scientists and leaders from around the world finalized our Climate Change Business Plan. It was approved by our Board of Directors in Feburary 2008.
In collaboration with our partners, more then 90 terrestrial and marine protected areas were developed, covering an area of 280,000 square kilometers. More then 20,000 square kilometers were protected by working with and engaging local communities, groups and landowners.
Our science division, working with the International Union for Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission and other partners, completed a worldwide assessment of all mammals. The results were startling, finding that more then 50 percent of all primates are in danger of extinction.
