Senior Managing Producer

Strategic Marketing + Global Communications

Conservation International (CI) is dedicated to achieving a new global conservation ethic. The Senior Managing Producer (SMP) for Content + Storytelling in the Strategic Marketing + Global Communications (SM+GC) Division is responsible for leading CI's world-wide storytelling initiative, which aims to unearth and disseminate CI’s most compelling, human interest stories from the field. The SMP will develop and produce stories for our unique audiences through the use of inspiring images, video, design, and writing for a variety of sources including conservation.org, media outreach, special events, print publications, and more.
The SMP will serve as a member of the SM+GC leadership team along with the Senior VP, the VP for Digital Marketing, and the VP of Branding. S/he will also work with the organization's senior leadership to develop a strategic vision for these efforts and will build a team of staff complimented by external experts and partners to develop and implement a set of goals and strategies to implement the agreed-to vision. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing processes to support the content creation workflow and will coordinate and lead content creation projects and tasks and ensure that they are of the highest quality.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10+ years experience in video and content conceptual development and production creation and development of branding materials, strategic communications across all mediums (especially web, broadcast, and print), project management, and team bulding. The candidate must possess strong strategic marketing, planning, and analytical skills, the ability to manage internal and external strategic partnerships, collaborate across functions and build consensus among diverse groups, including multiple divisions within CI, and proactively seek new opportunities that benefit not only CI, but our partners. The SMP will have experience with web publishing, print publications, photo editing, motion graphics, graphic design, video production, proofreading, copyrighting, and printing. The candidate will have significant experience with managing numerous, fast-moving projects and tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide the strategic vision for the content pieces of the overall CI communications strategy and content + storytelling strategy. Function as team member and visionary for strategic planning, relationship development, and day-to-day activities working with CI's broader content + storytelling team

Lead and coordinate content projects (including videos, graphic design, photos, and writing) and tasks for a range of materials including the CI website, print materials such as CI's annual report, calendar, and brochures, presentations for Senior leadership, press releases, communications campaigns, and more. Content production for CI's storytelling initiative is a priority.

Create and implement processes to ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of content development.

Ensure the overall efficient utilization of resources to keep projects within scope, on schedule, and within budget. Work with Senior Editor to drive execution of the editorial calendar

Inspire, and mentor CI staff who are part of CI’s content + storytelling efforts.

Create strong working relationships with other CI Division Heads and with our field programs.

Interact daily with an internal staff of graphic designers, web specialists, photographers, video producers, and writers to coordinate all content production. Manage relationships with external freelancers, consultants, and vendors. Manage the bid process for these relationships (estimates, scheduling, production and delivery). Ensure that projects are assigned appropriately.

Ensure that all content is consistent and meets CI branding, scientific, editorial, and web usability standards
Working Conditions: Travel approximately 8 to 10 times per year required (domestic and international).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree/10 years
Required Skills:
- 10-15 years of practical, relevant experience in brand creation and development, strategic communications, project management, and team bulding

College degree required, MBA preferred

General management and organizational leadership experience is required, including project, budget and people management experience.

Ability to respect the talent and contribution of staff, assess strengths and needs within the department. Must be seen as a leader, get results, and support the growth and development of team members

Proven track record in project management and process improvement. Ability to manage multiple projects on various levels with different and converging timelines.

Superior organizational skills and relentless attention to detail; consistently achieving deadlines to an exceptionally high standard

Experience leading and participating in cross functional teams and building consensus

Strong writing, presentation, and organizational skills are a must

Ability to operate effectively in a fluid, multi-tasking, deadline-driven, team-based environment.

Solid understanding of digital content/multimedia production, web publishing, print publications, photo editing, motion graphics, graphic design, video production, proofreading, copyrighting, and printing
- Passion for conservation and the environmental movement is critical to success
