Conservation International is seeking a Regional Development Director to facilitate the development and implementation of a resource strategy to acquire sustainable financing to meet the priority unfunded needs of our China program. The Director will oversee the program’s entire fundraising cycle including identifying potential donors, proposal development, donor stewardship, reporting and award close out. The position will provide support in building the program's fundraising capacities, writing and revising proposals, donor reports, and other fundraising documents and provide technical advice and support to CI China program staff. The position will also be responsible for developing and managing fundraising processes and tracking and managing fundraising activities.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently but have a commitment to the success of team achievements. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, professional in demeanor, flexible, organized and forward-thinking.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and implementation of annual and long-term fundraising strategies to raise and steward funds from corporations, individuals, foundations and public agencies, bilateral and multilateral (approximately $3.5 million annually).

Direct development and editing of proposals, reports, correspondence and other fundraising documents. Manage the proposal development and submission process; ensuring that proposals, reports and other documents are well written, strategic and submitted on schedule.

Work with program staff to develop fundraising proposals, reports and other documents that are substantively solid, well written, tailored appropriately for specific audiences, strategic and submitted on schedule.

Oversee donor stewardship requirements, including reporting, correspondence, and other related activities. Engage and meet with donors and prospect donors; prepare program staff for such visits. Develop strategies for engaging and maintaining prospect and donor interest and support.

Lead engagement regularly with headquarters-based core fundraising teams, field-based fundraising staff and other internal staff to represent program and ensure coordination and alignment with institutional fundraising.
Working Conditions: Position requires frequent travel up to 25% to China and other locations as needed for donor stewardship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of fundraising experience in at least two of the following donor sectors: corporate, foundation, individual/major gifts, multilateral institutions and government grant
- Excellent management, communication and organizational skills
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Capacity to juggle multiple tasks with a high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Ability to engage with a broad range of people, cultures and disciplines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Interest and knowledge of environmental issues
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree
