Biodiversity Assessments Cluster - Center for Applied Biodiversity Science 
Reports to: Senior Manager Finance and Operations 
Virginia
 

This position will provide financial and operational support for the Biodiversity Assessments Cluster (BAC) in the Center for Applied Biodiversity Science (CABS).  The focus of position is budget monitoring and maintenance, working closely with the Finance and Operations within CABS Executive.  This position will also be in charge of grant and contracts development and management, as well as operations and HR support for a staff of 17. This position will work on proposal budgets, donor management, donor reporting and compliance in association with CABS Executive team. 

Responsibilities include tracking all expenses for all BAC donors and reviewing monthly financial reports, entering budgets into CI's budgeting data base and entering all agreements into the Grant Enterprise Database. The position provides financial reports and grant updates to supervisor on a regular basis. This position will work in close collaboration with the BAC Communications and Program Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and monitors program budget, adequately track contractual agreements and financial documents utilizing CI's internal budgeting and grant management database as well as Oracle financials
  • Provides operational support including preparing and  maintaining Human Resources documents
  • Performs adminstrative duties such as preparing check requests, travel reports, filing,  faxing, and purchasing
  • Assist in developing Fundraising Strategy and identifying potential funding opportunities
  •  Prepare proposal budgets for submission to CI donor's

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, financial systems and financial reporting
  • Experience with grants and contract development and management
  • Requires attention to detail and the ability to operation with considerable independence to effectively establish priorities and work accurately under time constraints
  • Knowledge of Foundation and US government funding
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and quantitative skills

Preferred Skills:

Bilingual skills preferred.
