Conservation International’s Center for Conservation and Government (CCG) is seeking a Director for Multilateral Organizations to serve in our Public Funding Department. The Director will play a key role in engaging with the World Bank and other multilateral organizations to raise the profile of CI’s scientific, technical, economic and field implementation expertise in climate change, biodiversity and ecosystem services. He/she will identify and seek to strategically leverage new funding mechanisms and opportunities related to climate change and biodiversity conservation in relation to human well being. The Director will work closely with CI’s field programs and International Policy Department to collect lessons learned and provide feedback to multilateral organizations on the implementation of their programs.
Utilizing superior organizational and time management skills, the Director will assist in supporting the development of proposals through review and editing to ensure compliance with donor priorities and proposal requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage in dialogue with the World Bank and other multilateral institutions on the operationalization of new investment and funding mechanisms related to climate change and biodiversity conservation as related to human well being

Identify new funding mechanisms and opportunities within multilateral institutions, focusing on strategic and programmatic level opportunities.

Aid in the development of new strategic partnerships between these institutions and CI and advise CI programs on accessing such new opportunities

Participate in public funding training program for CI field programs by developing training materials for relevant donors and engaging in training and follow-up activities

Partner with the International Policy Department and other CI staff to spearhead the development of an organizational strategy for multilateral engagement

Travel once every two months
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree, preferably related to the environment, environmental economics and/or natural resources management
- 3 - 5 five years of work experience in positions that required experience with the World Bank and solid understanding of their policies and operations with regard to the environment and natural resources management
- Knowledge and understanding of international policy and multilateral environmental agreements related to climate change and biodiversity, including evolving UNFCCC funding mechanism
- Understanding of (or experience in) non-profit/NGO organizations

Excellent writing and editing skills; strong verbal communications skills, including public speaking

Proven ability to engage and collaborate with individuals across various disciplines, cultures and backgrounds to achieve shared goals
- Passion for conservation of nature
