Director, Climate Mitigation, International Policy
The Center for Conservation and Government (CCG) is seeking a Coordinator to provide financial, technical and administrative services to the International and U.S. Policy Programs. The Center for Conservation and Government promotes innovative solutions that enable governments to take critical actions to conserve biodiversity, strategically targeting the issues and audiences that will have the greatest impact on biodiversity conservation.
The Coordinator will support the development and implementation of the policy components of Conservation International's climate strategy. This includes overseeing all program budgets, grant agreements, and other financial documentation; providing coordination and logistical support for communications and events; assisting with editing, research and document organization; providing support for fundraising and proposals; assisting with programmatic planning and program projects of interest, managing website content; and other administrative duties such as travel arrangements, preparing check requests, travel reports, filing, faxing, and purchasing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage logistical and technical/programmatic support for conferences, workshops and meetings by facilitating communication, event planning and research capacities to insure collaboration between policy staff, internal CI collaborators, and external partners
- Oversee all financial aspects of the policy program budget, including tracking and analyzing the budget in CI’s financial systems to ensure financial accountability
- Oversee all grants and transfer agreements, advising policy staff on proper procedures to meet the demands of our partners and programmatic needs
- Assist in developing a Policy Fundraising Strategy and Communication Strategy through research, and the support of the preparation of proposals and financial/ technical reports to donors. Produce content for CCG policy website, factsheets, and information packets
- Support in programmatic/strategic planning and designated programmatic projects and other duties as assigned
Working Conditions: Position requires limited travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
- Bachelors degree in public policy, natural resource management, international development or related field with 2-5 years work experience
- Fluency in written and spoken English required with strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
- Knowledge of web content and development applications
- Attention to detail and the ability to operate with considerable independence to effectively establish priorities and work accurately under time constraints
- Ability to effectively track and coordinate multiple projects
Preferred Skills:
- Financial and budgeting experience for project management
- Fluency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese
- Personal interest in international conservation and development
- Good judgment and sense of humor
- Willingness to take initiative, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
