The Walt Disney Company has been a pioneer in delivering environmental messages since their “True-Life Adventures” nature films premiered over 50 years ago, and has collaborated with CI for close to 15 years on conservation efforts.
With the recent launch of their newest entertainment division, Disneynature, and the release of the breathtaking movie “EARTH,” Disney again uses stunning images and storytelling to remind all of us that science is fun and exciting.

CI's president Russell A. Mittermeier jumped at the chance to take Disney Imagineers on a RAP expedition – a rapid biological assessment - to learn more about the animals and plants of the Himalayas, to discover species previously unknown to modern science. Disney shares our passion for endangered species and endangered places. By weaving our scientific expedition into the storyline of the Expedition Everest thrill ride, Disney provides a special opportunity to stimulate interest in the Himalayas, and in the importance of science and conservation at the global level.
